orange pekoeFormed in 1998 by Tomoko Nagashima (vocals, lyrics, production) and Kazuma Fujimoto (guitar, composition, arrangement, production) in the light music club at Kwansei Gakuin University in Hyogo Prefecture. They made their indie debut while still a student, and made their major debut in 2002 with their first album, "Organic Plastic Music" (BMG Japan). They have won numerous awards, including the Japan Gold Disc Award New Artist of the Year. Their song "Happy Valley" became the first song to be played in heavy rotation on 32 FM radio stations in history. Since then, they have focused on live performances, and have also appeared at many festivals both in Japan and overseas. After moving to NY and LA from 2016 to 2019, they returned to Japan. To date, they have released seven original albums, four project albums including a big band arrangement album and a best album, as well as a DVD of the tour final live performance at NHK Hall, including CDs and records. As a solo artist, Tomoko Nagashima's album "NIA" (KING RECORDS), recorded in New York under the name Nia, was released in Japan, the US, and Europe. In 2024, she released the self-produced EP "UCHI" under the name Tomoko Nia, in which she made the beats, played all the instruments, and designed the cover all by herself. Kazuma Fujimoto has released four CDs under his solo name, mainly instrumental songs. He has also released live performances and collaborative works with various artists both in Japan and overseas. He is also active in a wide range of fields, including recording, participating in stage performances, and providing songs.
