lo-key designlo-key design is a contemporary R&B and SOUL unit that resonates with Gen Z listeners. The duo consists of vocalist salto and trackmaker Rikuto Nagira, who are the same age. Their delicate yet vibrant sound, created under the concept of lo-key meaning understated and subtle, is one of their defining characteristics.
The two met at university in 2017 and quickly connected through their shared passion for music, forming a band together. In August 2019, they began collaborating as a duo and made their debut in October 2019 with the digital EP DESIGN. Despite being their debut release, the track CAREFREE feat. kojikoji became a million-stream hit on Spotify, attracting significant attention.
In 2021, they released their first full-length album PALETTE. The album, rich in color and texture as if scattered with vibrant paints, received widespread acclaim. Since then, lo-key design has continued to actively release original music and collaborative works with a wide range of artists and creators, building a growing audience both in Japan and internationally.
