No.9no.9 (Number Nine) is a solo project by Takayuki Jo, a composer and music producer who creates various songs with the theme of "living with sound."
He began composing in the early 2000s, and in 2001 released a work that combined electronics and acoustics under the name no.9. He has released eight full-length albums, including "Switch of LIFE" in 2018 and "The History of the Day" in 2013, as well as "usual revolution and nine" (2008) and "Good morning" (2007).
From these, no.9's song "Left the wind" was provided for the opening ceremony of the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
He has also participated in numerous compilations, including the famous compilation "MELLOW BEATS, FRIENDS & LOVERS" supervised by Toru Hashimoto, the Square Enix remix collection "Love SQ", the Ryuichi Sakamoto tribute "- Ryuichi Sakamoto Tribute-", "FORMA 4.14" from PROGRESSIVE FOrM, and "my private space" from Impartmaint.
For live performances, he formed his own band set [no.9 orchestra], In addition to his own songs, he adds physical musicality such as guitar, drums, violin and piano to the band's original songs, and presents a spectacular live performance reminiscent of a full orchestra.
He has performed solo at Daikanyama UNIT and Kanazawa 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Osaka Expo Park, Ebisu Liquid Room, and various other venues. In 2014, he released his first band album [Breath in Silence].
As executive producer of the music label Steve* Music, he has released CDs, produced numerous commercial music for TV commercials, web ads, movies, video works and TV programs, and has also worked on sound design for public equipment.
