Kaori NakajimaKAORI NAKAJIMA a Japanese Literature graduate of Rikkyo University in Tokyo has been playing percussion including vibraphone since her junior high school years.
She discovered the vibraphone after joining the schools brass band as a percussionist at 12 years old.
Her first instrument was the piano at 4 years old but Nakajima fell in love with the vibraphone during her first year at university.
The vibraphone has a scale but its percussive so I got to combine piano and drums.
Kaori sites Steve Nelson and Ray Brown as major influences both of whom were instrumental in helping her to create her own sound.
