Maruarii Ateni

This Tahitian singer, songwriter, and guitarist was born in 1983. Beginning in his youth, he taught himself music, and gained experience as a musician for famous Tahitian artists. In 2010, he was the winner of the contest "9 Semaines et un Jour" and performed the song "Maruru no Teie O" in France at Francofolies. He captured people's attention, and in 2011, Maruarii recorded and released the album, "Free" in France, produced by the famous jazz pianist, Dominique Fillon. He has created a new style, a fusion of Tahitian, rock, jazz, blues, and other world music, calling it "a musical melting pot." From 2012, Maruarii's performances in Japan has increased as the musician for the Sabrina Tour, and since 2015, he has performed as head of the mehura music for the ʻOri Tahiti Japan Championship. From 2016, he launched a live collaboration, "Play with Maru" in Tahiti. Beginning in 2017, in Tahiti as well, he began guitar and ʻukulele classes called, "Guits'N'Uke Institute."
