HOUZUKIIn 2014 MEGURU formed the all-female performance group HOUZUKI combining traditional Japanese instruments Minyo folk singing nursery rhymes and dance.
Originally formed with five members HOUZUKI has performed at a wide variety of venues from live music clubs to concert halls including the Shibuya Harmony Festival produced by renowned Minyo singer ITO TAKiO SHIBUYA TAKE OFF 7 Minyo Sonic at the Edo-Tokyo Museum and APIA40 near Gakugei University. The group has also launched its own concert series in Kawasaki City.
Today HOUZUKI has grown to eight members. Their unique combination of traditional Japanese instruments folk songs nursery rhymes and expressive dance creates a fresh and distinctive performance style. By blending tradition with new artistic ideas HOUZUKI continues to bring new life to Japanese folk music while sharing its beauty with audiences of all generations.
