Artist Profile
Kawai SachikoGraduated from the Department of Arts at Tokyo Gakugei University. Studied abroad at the University of Venice and the Conservatory of Padua with a scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Japan.
Her vocal repertoire covers a wide range from medieval music to musical theater. Her notable appearances include the radio program Over the Rainbow on Nippon Broadcasting System, the Kumamoto earthquake relief musical Little Tree, and the operetta La Serva Padrona. She has performed concerts in four cities across Turkey as part of the 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Turkey. She has also appeared in shows aboard the cruise ships Asuka II and Nippon Maru.
In addition to performing, she has worked as a vocal coach for musicals, films, television programs, and commercials. She was the music producer for the film Midnight Bus.
She has taught at J. F. Oberlin University, the Watanabe Musical Arts Academy, and other institutions. She is a member of the Japan Handel Society.
