Yuya HonjoYuya Honjo Dancer / Musician / Actor
Yuya began studying classical ballet at the age of 4, and started jazz and tap dance at 6. In his teens, he encountered contemporary dance, which led him to begin creating choreography.
In 2017, he joined Gento Gekijo, a Kyoto-based collective of artists. As a choreographer, musician, and actor, he has participated in numerous productions both in Japan and abroad.
In 2024, he founded Ceremotion, a physical theatre unit based in the Tohoku region. The same year, the company launched its inaugural Tohoku tour Anano Nakano, performing in four cities across the region.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, with an abundance of unexpected free time, Yuya began composing music. What started as an attempt to create songs and soundtracks for his theatre company soon evolved into solo music production and live performance. He now performs improvised ambient techno sets lasting up to 120 minutes, and his works have expanded to include commissioned compositions for dancers and theatre productions - blurring the boundaries of his profession more and more.
