Her repertoire includes the pop and R&B standards of such artists as Whitney Houston, Bette Midler, Sade, and others – a list she often draws on when singing solo to her own piano accompaniment. “tomoko” writes songs about life, about love, about truth, and hints that there is a better way. Some of her songs, such as Overwhelming, point to the cruelty in life that we are sometimes expected to take for granted, while the lyrics of Silence suggest the battle to separate truth from lies. Whatever she writes, “tomoko” makes strong use of imagery and poetry to get her message across. The message always provokes thought and contemplation.
