Biography
After graduating from fashion school, Ayako began her career as a professional stylist. However, the relentless intensity of the industry took a toll on her health after three years, leading her to seek a path more aligned with her true self. Returning to her lifelong passion for singing, she joined a performing arts academy to reinvent herself as an artist.
In 2010, she made her mark by writing the lyrics and performing the insert song for the film Oh! My Brother, starring Hidetaka Akai. In May 2011, she officially debuted as an indie artist under the name AYA.
She achieved significant commercial success in February 2014 with her first nationwide single, Gesshoku / Futari no Sekai ~black baccara, which debuted at No. 6 on the Tower Records Shibuya Weekly Indies Chart. Her second nationwide release reached even greater heights, soaring to No. 2 on the Tower Records Shibuya Daily General Chart and No. 4 on the Weekly Indies Chart.
In October 2014, she transitioned to performing under her birth name, Ayako Yagishita, to better reflect her authentic artistry. After years of dedicated live performances and radio appearances, she released her long-awaited 1st full album in 2024. Today, she continues to captivate audiences with her refined musicality and deep-rooted passion for the stage.
