Luna Watanabe began her professional career while still in her teens, studying at a music university in Japan. As a lead alto saxophonist, she has performed internationally as a member of the Blue Note Tokyo All-Star Jazz Orchestra, appearing in Singapore and at the Taipei Jazz Festival.
She has shared the stage with world-renowned artists including INCOGNITO, Chris Potter, Steve Gadd, Larry Carlton, Blue Lab Beats, and The Manhattan Transfer. She has also appeared on the Japanese national television program Untitled Concert (TV Asahi), toured and recorded with Toshiki Kadomatsu, participated in the PERSONA5 Special Big Band Tour, and performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival 2025.
In 2024, she was appointed as a BRIDGE Artist for Kawasaki Jazz and received the Azalea Cultural Award from the City of Kawasaki. She also serves as an ambassador for the Fuji Five Lakes region and Yamanashi Prefecture.
Rooted in jazz yet unbound by genre, Luna expands her artistic identity beyond instrumental performance. As a singer-songwriter, she writes and composes her own music, blending jazz sensibilities with contemporary sounds.
