hwamohwamo is a singer-songwriter based in Kansai, Japan, with roots in the Korean Peninsula. Growing up with traditional Korean folk music and later influenced by HIPHOP, Jazz, Soul, and other forms of Black music during her teenage years, hwamo developed a unique musical perspective shaped by diverse cultural backgrounds.
In 2020, during a period of hotel quarantine amid the COVID-19 pandemic, hwamo began writing and producing original music. After making a live debut at a HIPHOP event in Kobe in 2022, hwamo has continued performing mainly across the Kansai area. In 2025, hwamo released the 7-inch vinyl record "Urokogumo / Same night".
Through lyrics that move between Japanese, Korean, and English, along with a mellow voice carrying a distinctive groove, hwamo continues to express emotional fluctuations and the delicate space between light and shadow.
