HISASHI AOCHI
Japanese DJ and Producer. Since 2009 he has been a DJ in techno and house. He has supported acts such as Ben Klock, Alan Fitzpatrick, Joseph Capriati, and in 2014 released debut tracks under Osaka techno label Torque, with songs by the likes of Ben Sims and Dave Clarke. Since 2017, he has been a resident DJ for CLUB METRO's event seQuence, where he promotes new interpretations of techno, house and leftfield music that is strongly influenced by the French electro of his native Kyoto. While welcoming next generation originators of various musicalities as guests, he always injected excitement throughout his weekly gigs, cultivating a weekend party atmosphere that was extremely popular. In 2019 he formed soO, a three-person collective with sinaro fujita, a promoter and co-star at his parties, and CeeeSTee, the producer of CLUB METRO. While under COVID-19 restrictions he released the compilation album "Session 00." To commemorate the launch, he synchronized the members' home studios in a worldwide livestream from Kyoto, enabling viewers to "experience the night as a virtual event." In 2020, he appeared as a special guest at CIRCUS TOKYO, and won the Grand Prix competition from SPECTRA, a competition run by techno producer Hiroyuki Arakawa and supported by Frank Muller, Takkyu Ishino and KEN ISHII. Thereafter he took first prize out of more than 300 entries in the Drunken Kong remix, a contest run by Christian Smith of well-established Swedish techno label Tronic to celebrate their 25th anniversary. It was here his first overseas release was determined. He also achieved rankings in Beatport's "Week End Pick 100" and "Electronica Top 100" charts. On those occasions he performed an exclusive DJ set on Tronic Radio, where he was evaluated by Christian Smith as having " a very different sense." In addition, he provides music for movies and commercials as a sound and recording engineer. As an editor he specializes in dance music, where he writes and supervises articles.
