Artist Profile
GoRo the VibratianA vibrational artist who plays didgeridoo, kalimba, mouth harp, flute, hand pan, percussion, and other instruments of his own making. GoRo spent five years wandering around India and other parts of Asia while making musical instruments on islands in Thailand from 1986. After returning to Japan, he set out to convert the vibrations of nature into sounds on the streets of urban areas such as Shibuya Station in Tokyo and elsewhere. GoRo's sound, which he creates with ethnic instruments from around the world in his own unique style, is acoustic but has an electronic aspect at the same time. To this date, he has participated in live sessions and recordings with many artists, including Takao Tajima (Original Love), Andrew Hale (Sade), DJ KRUSH, Kaoru Inoue, DJ KENSEI, Shing02, DJ BAKU, and many others, from underground to mainstream artists, transcending generations and music genres. GoRo has performed more than 150 times at events for tens of thousands of people, including the Boom Festival in Portugal during the European tour of the Japanese drumming band GOCOO. In recent years, he has toured arenas as a guest musician of a Japanese rock band 'sakanaction' and recorded music with 'ZEN RYDAZ' (MACKA-CHIN, MaL, J.A.K.A.M.), a group that is endorsed by many younger generations in the core Japanese music scene. From the jungle to the urban streets, GoRo's musical style is very unique.
