ZakioZakio is a Tokyo-based trackmaker and designer specializing in Hip Hop. In his youth, he worked at the iconic DMR record store in Udagawacho Shibuya, where he immersed himself in the underground hip hop and DJ culture of the 1990s. Just steps away from Guinness Records, run by the legendary Nujabes, Zakio's time in that environment shaped his unique style, which continues to inspire his work today.
He began his DJ career in the 2000s, diving deep into soul, disco, and funk as sampling sources, and his passion for these genres is reflected in his tracks. Beyond the confines of LoFi Hip Hop, Zakio's music is marked by nostalgia and warmth while remaining rooted in the present. He continues to perform as a vinyl DJ, keeping the craft alive.
