"SAMURAIS OF SKA" Originating from the Land of the Rising Sun and
Skanking Around the World is Beat Bahnhof!
A band born out of the cauldron of the music of the Skatalites, the
2-Tone movement, and Third Wave ska, Beat Bahnhof imbues their music
with Japanese and Asian sensibilities into a concoction they call,
"4th Wave Ska."
Formed back in April of 2012 by vocalist and guitarist Ace-K who when
coming up with the band's very unique name, procured the German
character of "Bahnhof" to go with the "beat" from Rock Steady Beat.
Beat Bahnhof released its debut album in 2013 in Dear Passengers that
got the band noticed. That was followed by supporting the Tokyo Ska
Paradise Orchestra at the Tokyo Ska Jamboree of 2014 in front of an
audience of 7,000 people. That led to a slot in the London
International Ska Festival, a promise Ace-K made to his bandmates
during their formation. The international exposure has seen the band
fulfill its goal of Skankin''round the World (a compilation album with
performances in the United Kingdom, Germany, Czech Republic, China,
Hong Kong, South Korea, the Philippines and Russia. Regarding that
seminal album, Skankin''around the World, it was that self-same album
that opened a then-young Ace-K's heart and mind to ska.
