Zarina Altynbayeva

Zarina Altynbayeva (soprano) was born in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Zarina studied at the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatoire. Later, she moved to England where she completed her Master degree in Music (with honours) at Goldsmiths University, London in 2011. In 2014, Zarina joined The Abay Opera House, where she became a lead soloist and performed a various repertoire from Baroque to Verismo. In 2018, Zarina won First Prize and received The Audience Award at the XVI "Tokyo Music Competition" (Japan, 2018) . A year later, she became a laureate of a prestigious international competition "Montecatini Opera Competition" (Italy, 2019). Zarina specializes mostly in Bel canto repertoire but her true passion lies in Baroque music. In 2020, she gave a series of concerts with the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Kazakhstan performing Period music. Same year, she closed the 85th theatrical season of the Abay Opera House with the online concert "Scherzi Musicali di Monteverdi" which was broadcasted on the National TV channel "Khabar". Zarina's repertoire includes various roles such as: Violetta "La Traviata" (Verdi), Rosina "Il barbiere di Siviglia" (Rossini), Adina "L'elisir d'amore" (Donizetti), Leila "Les pecheurs de perles" (Bizet), Azhar "Abai" (Hamidi, Zhubanov), Musetta "La boheme" (Puccini), Norina "Don Pasquale" (Donizetti) and others.
