**Singer-Songwriter / Guitarist**
Born in 1982, YOU is a Japanese singer-songwriter and guitarist, best known as a former member of the rock band OKAN.
During his time with OKAN, the band achieved remarkable milestones, including a sold-out solo concert at Osaka-jō Hall in 2013, drawing an audience of 7,000 people, and a performance at Rock in Taichung, one of Taiwan's major rock festivals, in 2015. Following these achievements, the band went on hiatus, leaving behind a legacy cherished by many fans.
YOU subsequently embarked on a new journey as a solo singer-songwriter. Born with a cleft lip and palate, he draws deeply from his personal experiences, transforming the challenges, emotions, and lessons of his life into heartfelt music. His songs resonate with audiences, offering inspiration, comfort, and a profound sense of connection.
In addition to performing more than 100 live shows each year, YOU is actively involved in music production, recording, and arranging songs for a wide range of artists.
His song "Memento mori" was selected as the ending theme for "Hisui Kotaro's Meigen Therapy," a popular YouTube program hosted by bestselling author Kotaro Hisui, whose channel has over 800,000 subscribers.
Beyond music, YOU serves as Vice President of Emidachi-kai, a Japanese nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting people born with cleft lip and palate.
Guided by his personal philosophy, **"To do everything I can with the life I've been given to make a difference in the lives of others,"** YOU continues to dedicate his life to music, human connection, and bringing hope to those around him.
