Shintaro Mamiya

Shintaro Mamiya is a jazz alto saxophonist, composer and educator based in Tokyo. He began playing the alto saxophone at age 13 and at 16 began studying jazz. Since graduating Meiji University in Tokyo, he has visited New York City multiple times to study jazz. While there he has studied under legends such as Lee Konitz and Ralph Lalama, joined workshops by those such as Barry Harris, and has joined sessions at places such as Smalls and Cleopatra's Needle as well as joining in on gigs. In 2018 he released his debut album "No East,No West" with ten original compositions.
