Phytoncide Ignis Hideout (IGNIS) is a five-piece hybrid rhythm collective rooted in samba batucada.
Blending the powerful grooves of Brazilian samba percussion with drums, IGNIS creates an exhilarating soundscape ranging from the sharp tones of metal percussion to the deep resonance of bass drums, delivering powerful rhythms filled with energy and excitement.
IGNIS is about more than performing music.
Our mission is to connect people through rhythm and create celebratory spaces where everyone, regardless of age or experience, feels free to move, participate, and become part of something bigger.
Another unique aspect of IGNIS is its rhythm fitness program. Rather than teaching complex samba steps, we invite everyone to join through simple, accessible movements that naturally bring people into the rhythm.
The members are seasoned performers and percussion leaders with years of experience in the Asakusa Samba Carnival, one of Japan's most renowned samba events. Building on that foundation, IGNIS continues to explore new forms of rhythm entertainment beyond traditional samba through collaborations with drums, guitar, DJs, and other artists.
From late-night dance floors to open-air festivals, community celebrations, and cultural events, wherever IGNIS performs, the venue becomes more than a stage it becomes a place where people connect, share joy, and celebrate together.
