Miwa Meipala Nakamura Born in Chiba, Japan, Miwa worked as a music class and culture instructor at YAMAHA. She has also been active as a lecturer in ukulele and pop vocal training in Chiba. Experience: 31 years as a music instructor 20 years as an Electone Instructor 25 years as an ukulele instructor 12 years as a Voice Training Instructor Throughout her career, Miwa has taught more than 500 students. Her master is Ray&Elodia kane, Yuki Yamauchi and Makana. She has been playing in the Leolani Hawaiian duo since 2000. Inspired and moved by real Hawaiian music, she has performed at various events to spread the appeal of Hawaiian music. In recent years, she has been involved in a wide range of solo activities, including wedding receptions and hula events. In 2020, when Hawaiian artist Makana released Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes in Japan, Miwa added the lyrics and sang Sadako and Senbazuru. She also had the chance to hold peace concerts with Sadako's nephew, Yuji Sasaki. Miwa continues to perform with her students and many musicians. She also is related to Japanese immigrants who migrated to Hawai'i. To serve as a bridge between Hawai'i and Japan, I created the song, Japanese Immigrants, Miwa shared. Along with singer-songwriter Takatomi Matsuo, Miwa wrote the story of her ancestors who moved to Hawai'i more than 100 years ago.
