Haruyo Kimura

One of the few Japanese professional erhu players who are independent performers. Erhu player born and raised in Kobe. Her artistic sensibility and free activities are based on the solid techniques she learnt in China, the home of erhu. She has been called the "diva of the erhu world" for her rich expressiveness, which can be heard as if she were singing. While giving successful recitals of classical erhu music, she is also a core member of the world's only erhu rock band JADOH. Her activities abroad in South Korea, India and elsewhere have been highly acclaimed, and she has had the honour of being named to the list of cultural figures of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She has released many CDs and her appeared in NHK radio dramas, films and TV shows. In 2019, she performed live at the opening ceremony and awards ceremony of the Suzuka 8hours Endurance Racece. From 2020, organises the free concert 'Furusato Tsunagu Concert' in her hometown Nada Ward. In 2021, she organised and successfully held a two-day event "Love You for a Thousand More - A World of Erhu and Projection Mapping -" at Chicken George in Kobe, a project supported by the Agency for Cultural Affairs AFF. Japanese erhu maker Kazuhiro Nishino has provided erhu since 2010. Keep an eye on the activities of the one and only erhu player Haruyo Kimura.
