Minami Wataru A.K.A DJ Minami was born 1976 in the Tokyo area of Japan but grew up in Kansai. His mother was a dancer and his father owned a record store that sold mostly U.S. Hip-Hop, R&B, Jazz, and Blues records. Growing up in such an environment it is no surprise that he started take an interest in aforesaid genres. At the age of 14 he got a taste of the nightlife when he entered a night club for the first time. There he was able to see a real live club DJ in action. His career as a DJ started when he received his first pair of tables when he was 15. From that point on the sky was the limit for DJ Minami and he took that to heart as he came to be the home DJ at all the Major clubs in Osaka. Due to his immensely successful parties in Japan and his working with other major artists, such as Kenny Dope & DJ Alamo of "Brand Nubian", DJ Premier, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Clark Kent, DJ Grandmaster Flash, DJ Whookid, DJ Kid Capri, Strech Armstrong, DJ Enuff, DJ Tony Touch, DJ Cash Money, DJ Self, among others. DJ Minami has become a name known throughout all of Japan as one of the top DJ's in the country. Recent accomplishments: 2005 - Dj Minami USA North Eastern Tour Produced Promoted Booked and Advised by Phil G. of Tawhiyd M.I.Creed Productions/BoomBoxGlobal.com in association with Deeper Records/Jonathan Peters Enterprise. The tour featuring Dj Minami was premiered at various clubs such as Club Avalon, Club Crobar, Club Temple, and BB King Moheigan sun, Latin Quarters, Show, just to name a few throughout the state of NY and Conecticuitt. Some of New York's top promoters such as Rob Fernandez, Eric Ortenz, Adam S, Alex and Leo, Stan K, Savon, Michael Julian, Aluv & Lodi, JeffFussion, Bobby Goodrich, and many more had a hand in helping Dj Minami careers along the way into the NYC music entertainment industry nightlife. Djs C-Skillz and Blinkz were Dj minami's opening djs on his 2005 USA Northern Eastern Tour. 2008 - Dj Minami NYC Tour premiering at various clubs throughout the state of NY and NYC. Club Rebel being just one of the many. 2008 - Dj Minami founded the company "Swaybeatz". 2009 - Dj Minami, Shin and staff of Swaybeatz Japan were the Producers, Promoters, and head Advisors of The BoomBoxGlobal.com Atmosphere Japan Tour 2 in May 2009. The Tour was headlined with Dj Minami and featuring Dj Serious alongside Djs C-Skillz & Blinkz from NYC. Venues of djs performances and entertainment were booked at Grand Cafe, Club Azure, Club Pure, Club ACACIA and club GIRAFFE in Japan. 2011-DJ Minami had been booked by clubs in Korea, Shanghai. He is expanding the width of activity is being continued intermittently. Dj Minami is currently moving dance floors everywhere with his explosive mixture of Hip Hop, Reggae, RnB, House,Electro, Mashups and more.
