BUDDY GIRL and MECHANICVocalist and synth player Xiroh started Buddy Girl & Mechanic as a solo project in Tokyo until she was joined by Peelander-Z's guitarist Tetsuya Hayakawa, rhythm guitarist Takashi Masubuchi, and drummer Kenta Gunji. Their debut album was featured as one of the best records of 2013 by the Japan Times and the Guardian. The group has also been acclaimed for their imaginative performances with other acts such as MOMUS and Takako Minekawa. In addition, Buddy Girl & Mechanic contributed music-and a cameo-to the Sundance award-winning 2014 film "Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter". Vocalist Xiroh also collaborates with other artists, notably having written music with a member of the Flaming Lips, performed on an Ogre You Asshole album.
