Noriaki Hosoya European Trio

Noriaki Hosoya's biggest musical influence is Jazz coming from Europe, the style typically represented by ECM records - beautiful mixture of classical music, pop and rock to contemporary jazz & yet very lyrical music. Since the time he was studying music in Boston's Berklee College of Music in the early 2000's, Noriaki Hosoya had dreamt to live to Europe someday. After working as professional bass player in Japan for several years, he finally moved to Berlin, Germany in 2010. Since his arrival, Nori had been looking for musicians to share his musical passion and diversity. He finally found two established Belgian musicians whos playing perfectly suit his music - the pianist Anne Wolf, and the drummer/percussionist Teun Verbruggen. They joined up for several rehearsals in November 2013 before going to the studio for a recording session at Jet Studio Brussels. Their first album "Eye of the Day" will be published in the coming months. The music of Noriaki Hosoya European Trio reflects Noriaki's musical diversity such as melodic and harmonic aspects from European contemporary Jazz, modern grooves and intensity from rock and pop music, and elegance and eloquence from new classical music. The ensemble mostly play Noriaki's own compositions, and perform in the spirit of "jazz" with lots of improvisations and interactions. The sound spectrum of the trio is melodic and sensitive, but dynamic and energetic at the same time. They fuse these two different elements to sublime their musical landscapes. The fact that Noriaki plays electric bass, instead of double bass, makes the sound of trio even more original. His 6 string semi-acoustic electric bass allows him to play colorful voicings and solos like guitar as well as powerful bass lines, which contribute to their peerless musical world.
