Fuefuki Kana Profile (Flautist/Compose)
Fuefuki means "Flutist" in Japanese. Kana is her given name. Kana was born and raised in the Fukui Prefecture of Japan.
She started playing the piano at the age of 3,
and started the flute during her junior high school days. After graduating from college, she started her musical career as a professional flutist.
Kana plays various sorts of flutes such as The standard Flute,Ocarina,Recorder,Pan-flute,Shinobue(Japanese bamboo flute)etc.
Also,she specializes in making unique sounds with the flute.
For example ,the bress tone(wind sound), the the muraiki tone which sound like a Shakuhachi(Japanese bamboo Recorder),the husky tone(the bress tone + slap tonging) etc.
In 2014, Kana was chosen as the best wind instruments performer by vote, and the runner-up of all performers at the You-tube
video contest of Diners Club Social Jazz Session 2013-14.
As the supplementary prize, she performed with Lee Ritenour, Crystal Kay, and Akira Jinbo on stage at Blue Note.
She won the runner-up prize in the International Shinobue (Japanese
bamboo flute)Contest 2014.
Kana's original music en titled in "Send for Spring" won a finalists prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in 2014 which is a international songwriting contest held in the U.S.A.
In addition to her performing career, she is widely active in the studio, performing on radio, and giving seminars on special flute techniques.
